Junior consultant

The role
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide range of client-facing projects and develop within a strong team-based environment in a specialist consultancy providing strategy, leadership and governance guidance to organisations in the public and third sectors.
The junior consultant role is an exciting first step in a career in consultancy, developing the skills and confidence to be a change agent with public and third sector clients. This position would suit someone with one-to-two years’ experience in project management seeking to develop their skills within a fast-paced, professional consulting organisation.
GGI has a good track record of supporting professional development and further qualifications and we would support junior consultants to be on a path to acquiring a relevant professional or academic qualification.
This is primarily a remote role, although some occasional UK travel will be required for client work.
Job profile
As a junior consultant, you will work within project teams to deliver reviews and improvement programmes to a wide variety of client organisations.
You will be responsible for supporting projects from conception to completion in a project management capacity. This includes creating detailed project plans, regular client liaison, monitoring budgets and regular updates of our CRM.
As part of the project team, you will be supported to develop consultancy skills in activities including systematic document review, semi-structured interviews, focus groups, meeting observations and designing and administering surveys. We would expect initial learning on the job but to quickly progress to a level of confidence to be able to undertake these activities unaided.
You will also be expected to produce draft client-facing materials, such as PowerPoint presentations, draft reports and briefing papers.
Other responsibilities include elements of corporate responsibility:
- Market analysis and business development, to include drafting proposals and tender responses.
- Producing knowledge management materials, such as blogs and articles.
- Operational monitoring of resource allocation across the organisation

- Highly IT proficient, especially using Microsoft 365 and work effectively using Zoom and Microsoft Teams (essential)

- A degree in any discipline (highly desirable, but not essential with 2-3 years proven relevant experience)
- Knowledge of the fundamental concepts of governance (desirable)

- Understanding of the health and social care, charity and/or education sectors (desirable)
Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to work some unsociable hours during event periods.

The consequences of poor governance can be seen all around us. No organisation, however large or small, rich or poor, is immune from it.
