Biography
Lord Kamlesh Patel is a respected voice in British politics and social work, known for his deep commitment to community wellbeing and equality. Born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1960, he moved to the UK as a child and grew up in Bradford. His early experiences shaped his passion for addressing social inequalities, particularly in health and mental health services. He was made a life peer in 2006.
Lord Patel has advocated for minority communities and improving access to care. He’s taken on leadership roles in public health, including chair of Social Work England, and was a pivotal figure in reforming the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), helping tackle issues of racism and diversity in the sport.
