Martin joined GGI full-time as a copywriter in November 2020 after working with the team on a freelance basis for two years. At the end of 2024, he became our communication manager.
He brings more than 35 years’ experience as a newspaper and magazine journalist, press officer, internal communications manager, and freelance business writer and editor.
He’s worked for blue-chip multinationals, government departments, global banks, law firms and insurance companies, small agencies and one-man bands, writing and editing a wide range of material, including thought leadership articles, news releases, case studies, white papers and reports. Career highpoints before GGI included interviewing then-prime minister Margaret Thatcher in his second week as a trainee reporter on the Dover Express newspaper, and reporting live from the 2019 Transcontinental Race, an ultra-distance cycling race across Europe.
Martin’s role brings him into contact with many aspects of GGI’s work, from writing, editing and sending our newsletter to working on projects such as client reports and the annual Festival Review. He also works with clients on communication-related projects; this has included writing articles and annual reports, improving websites, and developing content to prepare the staff of an NHS trust for a visit from the regulator.
Away from the office, Martin has lived in Brighton for 25 years and enjoys cycling—preferably over the Alps—swimming in the sea, photography and exploring the South Downs with his dog.
