Biography
Sophia joined GGI in January 2022 as a project support and research intern. Before joining GGI she obtained her Master’s Degree (MSc) in International Development: Politics, Governance and Development Policy from the University of Manchester.
Sophia was born and raised in central/northern Nigeria where 'corruption' and 'bad governance' were terms she heard used far too often to describe the state of the country. The realisation that the levels of poverty and inequality in her country were not due to a lack of resources but mismanagement and corruption was what ignited the desire in Sophia to pursue social justice and to bring about change herself.
She went on to obtain a BA International Development from the University of Leeds before pursuing her Master’s.
Outside of work, Sophia enjoys reading, music, learning languages and immersing herself in global culture.
