The session will commence with GGI Chief Executive, Professor Andrew Corbett-Nolan, who will set the scene providing an update on national guidance and policy and also reflect on GGI's experience of working with several ICSs around the country.
This will be followed by a presentation from Sir Ciarán Devane (Chair of the Health Service Executive, Ireland, Executive Director of the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University & former Chief Executive of the British Council). Sir Ciarán will discuss the opportunities and challenges of leading a health agenda in Ireland that integrates both a health and social care perspective.
We will then turn to Professor Jenna Ward (Academic Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at Coventry University and Director of the Art of Management & Organisation), who will provide her reflections on emotional labour as a leadership skill. Professor Ward will introduce the theoretical concept of emotional labour before exploring how and why it is a key leadership skill that is vital in developing high performing teams, emotional resilience and an ability to influence. Drawing on examples and research from within the NHS and beyond, she will also take a critical look at both the importance and also the dark side of emotional labour.
Following the presentations, the session will open for questions, comments and discussion.
