NEDs: Partnerships, systems, collaborative relationships | 16 June 2023

29 May 2023

As part of its mission to promote good governance, GGI has been hosting facilitated virtual meetings to give NHS non-executive directors an opportunity to share their concerns, challenges and ideas as we rethink the future of health and social care.

The goal is to collectively think about the role NEDs play as part of the controlling mind of their organisations, to discuss immediate safeguarding issues and to ensure we all learn from this experience to assure better outcomes for citizens in the future. If you would like to join this meeting, please email events@good-governance.org.uk.

ABOUT:

Chair: Aidan Rave, Principal Consultant, GGI

'Non-Executive Directors: Partnerships, systems, collaborative relationships' in conversation with: Will Godfrey, Chief Executive of Bath & North East Somerset Council

Terms like partnerships, networks and systems used to define cross-sector relationships and have become very much a part of the public sector vernacular in recent years. There can be a tendency to assume that because they are given a name, written in policy documents and used frequently, then we should all just get on with it.

Of course, anyone who’s been in a real relationship of any kind, knows that such simplicity is far from the case; relationships can be challenging and difficult, they demand hard work and commitment if they are to provide rewards.

In this session we want to explore how provider collaboratives are evolving within Integrated Care Systems, specifically from a local government perspective; what’s working well and what needs to improve.

Strong relationships are built on an ability to challenge, to be candid with one another and with a clear focus on the goals ahead, so expect this session to generate not only lively discussion, but hopefully some useful pointers for us all to take away afterwards.

The format of the meeting will be a short 'In conversation with ...' to start the dialogue followed by a peer-to-peer discussion welcoming feedback, questions and comment. This meeting is by invitation and is open to all NHS Non-Executive Directors, Chairs and Associate Non-Executive Directors of NHS Providers.
