GGI National NHS NED Development Programme: Peer to Peer Weekly Meeting with Aidan Rave | 23 September 2022
19 September 2022
As part of its mission to promote good governance, GGI will host these facilitated, weekly virtual meetings to give NHS non-executive directors an opportunity to share their concerns, challenges and ideas as we rethink the future of health and social care.
The goal is to collectively think about the role NEDs play as part of the controlling mind of their organisations, to discuss immediate safeguarding issues and to ensure we all learn from this experience to assure better outcomes for citizens in the future. If you would like to join this meeting, please email events@good-governance.org.uk.

In conversation with Aidan Rave... ‘We need to talk about local government’
- How does local government view health and the role of the ICS?
- What lessons should NHS Boards learn from the prior era of OSCs when seeking the buy-in of local government for the ICS agenda?
- How effectively are ICS integrating the local government voice?
- How can health and local government work best on the public health and integrated care agendas?
About Aidan Rave
Aidan joined GGI in July 2022 to support our work across the public and third sectors. He brings with him a wealth of experience, having operated for over 20 years at a senior level in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
As a local politician, chief executive and advisor, Aidan has a broad and practical insight into the workings of local government, with a particular focus on the role of good governance in strategic planning, decision-making and operations. Having unusually operated as both an officer and an elected member, he recognises the critical importance of effective working relationships at the heart of high-performing organisations.
Aidan’s other experiences include being a corporate-level director of two national charities, a senior consultant in both boutique and global consulting environments, and a founder of both domestic and international businesses. He has also held several high profile non-executive positions including the Regional Development Agency Yorkshire Forward and the Improvement & Development Agency for Local Government.
Most recently, Aidan played a key role in the national efforts to contain Covid-19, operating at regional level in London, the South East and East of England to support local systems in providing the infrastructure necessary to support community safety. He is currently a non-executive director of the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West (BOB) integrated care board.
Aidan holds a degree in Social Sciences, a masters in Human Resources Management and an MBA. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Outside work, he is an enthusiastic cook and keen cyclist.
