GGI National NHS NED Development Programme: Peer to Peer Weekly Meeting with Susan Sjuve | 8 April 2022
07 January 2022
As part of its mission to promote good governance, GGI will host these facilitated, weekly virtual meetings to give NHS non-executive directors an opportunity to share their concerns, challenges and ideas as we rethink the future of health and social care. The goal is to collectively think about the role NEDs play as part of the controlling mind of their organisations, to discuss immediate safeguarding issues and to ensure we all learn from this experience to assure better outcomes for citizens in the future. If you would like to join this meeting, please email events@good-governance.org.uk.

'Reversing the downturn in public perceptions of the NHS'
A recent Kings Fund Report suggests that public support for the NHS is now at a historic low. How can it be so soon after we all stood on doorsteps clapping and banging saucepan lids that this could happen. In conversation with Susan Sjuve, we will try to shine a light on the causes of this downturn and assess what Board’s Chairs and Non-Executive Directors can do to mitigate and ultimately to turn this situation around.
• What has driven the current downturn in public attitudes to the NHS?
• How should Board’s look to support their staff in the face of public hostility and low appreciation?
• What are the risks of any continuing downward trend in public support for the NHS
• How can Board’s stem and reverse the current public perception of the NHS?
