NHS finance committees | 12 January 2024

18 December 2023

As part of its mission to promote good governance, GGI has been hosting facilitated virtual meetings to give NHS non-executive directors an opportunity to share their concerns, challenges and ideas as we rethink the future of health and social care.

The goal is to collectively think about the role NEDs play as part of the controlling mind of their organisations, to discuss immediate safeguarding issues and to ensure we all learn from this experience to assure better outcomes for citizens in the future. If you would like to join this meeting, please email events@good-governance.org.uk.

ABOUT:

To start off 2024, GGI’s unique peer-to-peer forum for NHS NEDs looks at the main board committees: audit, quality, finance and people. Starting with NHS finance committees, we will focus on good practice in finance committee remit, reports, style and assurance, which is highly topical with such enormous pressure on NHS finances being part of all boards’ work at the moment.

Helping us through this will be Bob Alexander, a highly experienced NHS finance director whose executive career ended with him steering the TDA as first their director of finance and then deputy chief executive. Since leaving executive work Bob has held multiple non-executive positions, including of Sussex Health and Care Partnership and as interim chair of Imperial.

A seasoned and highly informed commentator, Bob’s counsel is highly sought after. Our webinar on best practice in NHS finance committees will be a chance to discuss with him his ideas and thoughts.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This meeting is by invitation only and is open to all NHS non-executive directors, chairs and associate non-executive directors of NHS providers. Others may attend by special invitation. For further details, comments, questions and suggestions please contact: events@good-governance.org.uk.
