Last week, as Boris Johnson was speaking about the central role that tackling inequalities will play in his government’s flagship ‘levelling up’ policy, we were announcing Sir Michael Marmot as the recipient of our 2021 Good Governance Award. We will present Sir Michael with his award at the GGI annual lecture, part of the Festival of Governance, on 22 September.

The bill will now work its way through the legislative process and although it might be amended, the broad thrust won’t change and it is likely it will be passed into law during the current parliamentary session.
